1984
Nineteen Eighty-Four: A Novel, often referred to as 1984, is a dystopian social science fiction novel by English novelist George Orwell. It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell’s ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. Thematically, Nineteen Eighty-Four centres on the consequences of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and repressive regimentation of persons and behaviours within society. Orwell, himself a democratic socialist, modelled the authoritarian government in the novel after Stalinist Russia. More broadly, the novel examines the role of truth and facts within politics and the ways in which they are manipulated.
20 Dictators of the World
In the late nineteenth and twentieth century, with the disappearance of monarchies in many parts of the world, a new autocratic system emerged ? the dictatorship, in which all power over a state or community was again concentrated into the hands of one person, without being restricted by constitution, laws or opposition. The individual with this kind of absolute authority was known as the dictator.
Here are the twenty dictators of modern times whose actions have left a strong imprint on destiny of the country they ruled, and sometimes even influenced the very history of the world.
More often though, dictators rose to the power by leading a coup d??tat, in which often a weak monarch of government was deposed and instead a dictatorship?established. A nice read book to deep into history.

20 Greatest Sportstars of the World
Successful athletes are real-life super heroes of today. For the purposes of this book though, this is not enough. The genuinely successful sportspersons are those who have had some far-reaching impact on the sport or game concerned. Based on such achievements, this book has zeroed on these twenty sportspersons who are truly the greatest of all time. These men and women have not just attained fame and financial success ? some belonging to the earlier half of the twentieth century in fact did not ? but have contributed to their game and to sports in general, in such a way so as to award high points in the evolution of the human both in body and mind.

41 Tips For Success in Share Market
This book is the latest one by renowned research analyst, Mahesh Chandra Kaushik. At present, the old techniques in the stock market have become almost ineffective, because with the advent of discount broker houses and the increase in the participation of retail investors in options and delivery in the market, the time has gone when the investors used to buy large amounts of a stock and held for 15 to 20 percent return. At present, most retail investors are either trading on intra-day, making a profit on a single day or making money in a call option of a seven-day short expiry in an option, or taking a small profit in a swing trade, leading to more small range market fluctuations.
The present book written in this context is the only one of its kind in which the author has made a meaningful effort to share many things in few words by incorporating intra-day, option trade and swing trade. The author has shared his 15 years of trading experience through 41 tips, which are essential for all investors?big and small?seeking to earn profits in the stock market.
50 Great Freedom Fighters
Had it not been for our brave and gallant freedom fighters, India would still be enslaved by the blood-sucking colonisers. Mahatma Gandhi, Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Veer Savarkasr, Lokmanya Tilak, Chandrashekhar Azad followed another end of the pole, upholding the use of violence to attain the much-elusive freedom and independence. This book is an inspriational collection of 50 Greatest Freedom Fighters who had different stratagems in mind, but all functioned as juggernauts in the National upsurge to battle psychological and corporeal slavery. The pleasant surprise in this list of freedom fighters is that it is not just dominated by male presence, but females also figure in this list. Even the homemakers were brought out of their comfort zones and fight alongside men, painting a feminist picture in the National struggle for freedom. It is hard to forget strong women like Sarojini Naidu to mention a few, who were fearless in the face of danger. This work commemorates all these freedom fighters, without whom India would still be trapped within the shackles of slavery. It is a tribute to all those great souls!
50 Greatest Mathematicians of the World
Mathematics is considered the most dreaded subject. However it is extremely interesting and one should read about it. Had this subject not been interesting then some of the great physicist, doctors, lawyers, poets, story writers, etc., in their later life would not have turned to study it and made great discoveries in the field of mathematics. While mathematics itself may be a form idable subject for many, the lives and accomplishments of history?s greatest mathematicians are fascinating. This book is intended for people interested to know the heroic journey of those great mathematicians who have made important contribution to mathematics, through their ideaes, teaching or in other ways. The main emphasis is on their work and achievement in the field of mathematics.
I hope this book will serve adual purpose: firstly help students realize mathematics is not to be dreaded but helpful in achieving in other subjects; secondly help those who hate the subject respect it.
A Bouquet of Flowers
The human life that we get after many births is priceless. It has to be spent in a very careful manner. Shakespeare words ?that life does not mean anything?, does not stand. Nature is a very important part of our lives.
A Cello For Bihar
The year was 1950. Khem Rao was just another child born in a remote farming village in Bihar. His life?s script was expected to be no different to anyone else born under the same circumstances. However, destiny had other plans.
This book charts the course of his extraordinary life and his prodigious music talent. This is a story of hardship. Of trial and tribulations. Of the hand of fate. Of hope and achievement. Of love and heartbreak.
His life exemplifies that it matters little from where you start, but where you finish.

This is a story of adversity and the hand of fate. Of love and heartbreak. Of trial and tribulations. Of turmoil and triumph.

A Constructive Parliamentarian
Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has dedicated over sixty years of his life in service of the country. He served the country as member of Parliament for five decades and as Prime Minister of India for six years. He is an orator par excellence, whose speeches are listened with attention by friends and foes inside and outside Parliament. He used the Parliament as an educational forum as well as political weapon and enhanced the prestige of parliamentary institution. He did not mince words when criticism is due or warning necessary. But his criticism has not hurt his opponents. His sharp intellect and wit is almost tailor-made for parliamentary debate. Shri Vajpayee often rises above party politics and gives primacy to national interest over political consideration, and he always appreciated well taken Opposition point of view.
As a Prime Minister he also proved to be an achiever par excellence. He gave nuclear dimension to India?s military power without fear of sanctions but also established close friendly relations with President Clinton of the U.S. and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan. Even after the Kargil betrayal he extended the hand of friendship to General Musharaf and took steps to establish cordial relations with China and other neighbours in tune with his words ?I can change history but not geography?. His domestic achievements were starting highway quadrangle with rural road connectivity, Chandrayan programme, linking rivers to solve irrigation and flood problems, cheap and speedy communi-cation system and establishing ?Sagar Mala? to connect 4000 kms. of coast-line. He made India a food grain exporter, a major out-sourcing country and enriched the country with over billion dollar foreign exchange reserves.
However his constructive role as a Parliamentarian is hidden in the documents of Parliament and is not so well-known. He introduced 22 Bills in all including 20 when in opposition of which nine were Constitutional Amendment Bills and 2 when he was the Foreign Minister of India. They show his painstaking exercise in strengthening the democratic foundation of our country, his deep concern for health and welfare of the people, faith in independence of judiciary, taming money power in elections and above all human touch towards weak and handicapped people. The fact that some Bills were accepted or rejected or could not come for discussion and lapsed because of dissolution of Parliament is of little significance.

A Guide to Health
As the familiar saying goes, ?Prevention is better than cure.? It is far easier and safer to prevent illness by the observance of the laws of health than to set about curing the illness which has been brought on by our own ignorance and carelessness. Hence it is the duty of all thoughtful men to understand aright the laws of health, and the object of this book is to give an account of these laws. The best methods of cure for some of the most common diseases are also mentioned.
The author Mahatma Gandhi assures the readers that there is absolutely no necessity for them to seek the aid of doctors. To those, however, who may not be willing to boycott doctors and medicines altogether, he directs, ?As possible, possess your souls in patience, and do not trouble the doctors. In case you are forced at length to call in the aid of a doctor, be sure to get a good man; then, follow his directions strictly, and do not call in another doctor, unless by his own advice. But remember, above all, that the curing of your disease does not rest ultimately in the hands of any doctor.?
Mahatma Gandhi led a disciplined life and in this book he has discussed in detail the meaning of health, how to live a healthy life and has also suggested some simple treatments for common ailments.
A practical guide to health for all.
A Journey of Hope and Belief
Dr CP Thakur?s A Journey of Hope and Belief is the story of a man born into a simple farming family, in a village in North Bihar. His childhood was marred by recurrent fevers that kept him homebound for months together. He was in high school when the disease was finally diagnosed as Kala-azar. Undeterred, he went on to study medicine and did his MRCP from both London and Edinburg. Back in India, he made a name for himself as a remarkable doctor and scientist. His pioneering research in the field of Kala-azar earned him recognition the world over, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from WHO. A Journey of Truth
The original title of the manuscript was ?The Honest Sufferer?. The title reflected the inner pain and turmoil that he may have gone through in the short life he lived, to live by his own high standards of honesty. This novel can be described as fictionalized biography of Siddhant, with his hero Suraj?s character reflecting his own life while other characters and stories around him have been fictionalized as per demands of the writer in him.

A Patriot Monk Swami Vivekananda
In jail, I read the complete literature of Swami Vivekananda. One thing which impressed and amazed me very much was that Swami Vivekananda left his home and all worldly affairs to attain salvation but after travelling the whole of India for four years and seeing the poverty of our country, gave up the idea of Moksha too. On the rock of Kanyakumari, he made a historical announcement??O Lord! I do not want salvation till every human being of my country is not free from hunger: And let me be born again and again to serve my motherland.? Not only this, he called upon all the countrymen to forget all the Gods and Goddesses for sometime as the poor countrymen are the greatest Gods and Goddesses and their service is the highest worship. He gave the Mantra of DRIDARA-NARAYANA.

A Prisoner S Scrap-Book
A Prisoner?s Scrap-Book is a fascinating account of the unfolding of events of the Emergency (1975-77) as seen from a prison house. Written in a simple and straightforward style embellished with anecdotes, this is not just one more prison diary. Nor does it attempt to theorize. In words that speak from the heart, the author?then the president of a major Indian political party and how the country?s. Home Minister?has recorded his thoughts and the events that took place on a day-to-day basis during his nineteen-month sojourn in the country?s jails. In his foreword to the book, former Prime Minister Shri Morarji Desai writes, ?…The diary reveals a person of singular honesty and dedication, culture and equanimity. It depicts the burning faith with which he withstood the consequences of governmental trickery and his passion, as an editor for the freedom of the Press and the mass-media….?
The book also includes a collection of pro-democracy literature written by the author under a pseudonym and circulated in the underground conduits.
The author?s uncompromising commitment to democratic norms and values is reflected here, as well as his abiding faith in an open society and the unfettered right of the people to pursue its ideals.
A book which deserves to be read by all who value such ideals.
A Remarkable Political Movement
This concise book portrays the vignettes of what I call ?A Remarkable Political Movement?. It draws upon my experiences in social and political activism. This remarkable movement, anchored to Indian view of nationalism, captivated my imagination. Subsequently, it became the preoccupation of my life.
While still young, I came across an extraordinary letter written by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay to his maternal uncle. The letter succinctly explains why the ideologue of Jana Sangh wanted to dedicate his life for the cause of the nation. Pt. Upadhyay says, ?Any individual may achieve a very high degree of progress, but that has no significance unless his motherland too, registers corresponding progress…. We are nowadays interested only in reaping the harvest and have forgotten to provide the field with manure. Can we not forego a few worthless ambitions for the protection and benefit of our own people?? The letter turned a refreshing chapter in my life. It was an exposition that ?giving? makes one nobler than ?taking?.
It was in 1951 that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee launched the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The BJP is continuing the work of the Jana Sangh with a missionary zeal to make Bharat the greatest country in the world. The book also contains some articles on India?s rich cultural, spiritual and literary life.
A Sailor Remembers
These memoirs, originally published shortly before Ram Dass Katari, the first Indian to head the Indian Navy, died in 1983, are being re-published to mark his birth centenary year.
The book tells the powerful story of the struggle to build independent capability amongst Indians as the country experiences the historic transition from colonization to freedom. Set against this vast canvas is the appealing personal narrative of the rise of a small town lad, Ram Dass Katari, who overcomes several odds, to find himself at the helm of the fledgling Indian Navy in 1958, at the age of 47. He was witness to the unfolding of major national level events while developing a vision for a three dimensional Navy, anchored in the principles of self sufficiency, integrity, discipline and first rate leadership.
He combines a razor sharp intellect and sense of humour, to walk the reader through his diverse and multifaceted career profile which covered key administrative and management challenges at home and abroad ? with the highlight clearly being his achievements as Indian Ambassador to Burma at a particularly trying period in Indo Burmese relations.
Whether in service or in retirement, Katari retained the quality of being a perceptive observer and commentator on the growing contradictions and erosion of values in public life ? the strengths and weaknesses of our civil service and political leadership. Above all he tells his story like it is ? simply, with humour and humility, and with an uncompromising integrity.
A State in Turbulence Jammu & Kashmir
The numerous problems of Jammu & Kashmir which remain unsolved include incomplete accession of the state, the Article 370, the unresolved issue of citizenship of lakhs of people who migrated from Pakistan, the rehabilitation of lakhs of innocent people who were forced to leave their home and hearth in the border areas during the wars between India and Pakistan, denial of legitimate rights to the people of Jammu and Ladakh, the back-breaking poverty of Ladakhis, spate of terrorism, the issue of rehabilitation of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits displaced from their homes and innumerable other social problems faced by the people all these years. Worse still, the Tricolor, symbol of our National Honour, which is hoisted every year throughout the country with great enthusiasm is set on fire at the Lal Chowk in Srinagar by the subversive elements to show humiliation and dishonour to the Indian nation.
In view of the above facts, this book ?A State in Turbulence?Jammu & Kashmir? has been written to reveal some significant aspects of the problems and factors which are relevant in the overall context, such as the glorious past of Kashmir, role played by patriotic and great nationalists, causes of the present chaos, some historical facts suppressed so far, and above all proposed constitutional provisions essential for the future of Jammu & Kashmir.
A Tale of Two Drops
A Tale of Two Drops’ is an interesting and inspiring story of a trendsetting campaign for polio eradication in Delhi which became a model for the rest of the country to follow. In fact, it can be adopted as a model for the battle against any wide-spread disease in the developing world. The book should interest medical professionals, health authorities and non-government organizations engaged in public cause campaigns.
It makes an interesting reading how individuals and organizations in diverse fields?religion, sports, films, art and culture, social service and even politics?were motivated and activised to participate in the movement. Innovative and imaginative methods were used, old traditional practices and modern management methods were simultaneously used to achieve quick and effective results.
In brief, it is a guide for policy planners and health workers and an insight in a public campaign which will interest a general reader.

Aamir Khan : a Social Spark
Aamir Khan is a versatile actor, film maker, social activist and a good human being above all. He has gained much fame, glamour and prosperity but at the same time he has assumed social & moral responsibility to return it back to the society in good terms. Talking especially of Aamir films when we talk about Jo Jeeta Vo Sikandar, Lagaan, 3 Idiots, Tare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, PK, Dangal and of course how can we forget the popular TV Series Satyamev Jayate, Aamir picked up those sensitive issues which remained usually untouched or unexplored before the society in terms of cinema and he dealt with those social issues in his TV program Satyamev Jayate which is already present in our society and our homes long back and still survive. This book is not about the person; it is about the way of thinking and urge to serve something to society and take those brave steps which can be lethal too for an actor.

Albert Einstein
Even though Einstein had never visited India, it is a pleasant surprise to note that he had very close relations with several Indians and Indian culture. The shaping of this relation started with the Bose-Einstein equations when young scientist Satyendra Nath Bose described light particles through statistical models. Because of Einstein’s involvement in political, humanitarian and academic projects across the world, his interaction with Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru was but natural. He had threadbare discussion with Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on the issues like beauty and faith. Einstein had high regards for Mahatma Gandhi and tried his path of Satya and Ahimsa. He had high expectations from Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and his philosophy of non alignment.
The Author has not only highlighted above points in the book but also explained his various theories and scientific works such as theory of light, relativity, fourth dimension, space-time relation, expanding universe etc. in a very interesting manner using simple words and examples.
