Tatya Tope

Tatya Tope was born in 1814 in a Brahmin family of Yewla village in Patauda district near Nasik. His father?s name was Shri Pandurang Pant. He was a priest by profession. He was well versed in the Shastras. He enjoyed a great reputation in the society. Tatya Tope was his eldest son. The actual name of Tatya Tope was Ram Chandra Pandurang Yewalkar. Ram Chandra?s father was a man of simple living and high thinking. After Ram Chandra?s birth, he felt that he would not be able to do much with his meagre income for the family.
